Please note, this activity is separate from, and not part of, the Welsh Government’s mandatory national personalised assessments.

Why take part

  • Help create more accurate reading ages for learners in Wales.

  • Support fair, national assessment.

  • Contribute to improved literacy resources for the secondary sector.

What is required

  • 2 short tests (15 to 20 minutes each, within one month of each other).

  • Administered one-to-one.

  • To be completed between May and the end of the academic year.

Benefit to your school

  • £5 book voucher for each learner who completes both tests.

  • More robust reading data to support teaching.

  • Even a small number of learners are a very valuable contribution.

Next steps

  • Express your interest by emailing profion@cardiff.ac.uk.

  • Confirm the number of learners.

  • Receive access details.

  • Schedule the sessions.

We understand this is a very busy time for Years 10 and 11, thank you very much for considering supporting this project.
